The food here was unreal. We had a range of the a la carte menu and loved it all.

Excellent and very reasonably priced

A group of univeristy colleagues have started this café where you can taste local dishes very well cooked. We took boar and deer meet dishes. The place is unique, very well decorated and ambient music is well chosen. Good luck guys!

Awesome dinner. You can't believe to get an amazing farm-to-table place in such a remote village. The beef steak was a bit pricy and petit but very high quality. Everything is locally sourced and that is the theme of the menue. They have stickers with a funny world map which you can add where you come from. The rice is locally sourced and washed by natural springs. Looks quality of ingredients is taken seriously here.

Food was good, English menu and the English communication with the waiters was easy.

There were no shops open on Sunday evening and I was scared to enter. There is a sense of cleanliness and openness at the store where the private house has been renovated. The seats are spacious and very cozy. The menu included local tofu salad, roasted deer, grilled amago, roasted shimemaba, fried rice with rice, non-alcohol beer. This is 3900 yen. It is very reasonable. I wanted to see local sake if I did not come by car.

You get what you pay for. Limited menu but what few items they do, they do very well. The rare venison on rice is very nice. So was their Trout and Veg Fritters. Not cheap but great quality in a very contemporary environment.

With friendly service and a warm atmosphere, I’m glad we stopped here after walking by Oyunohara. The lunch menu is limited to three main items. We tried the roasted venison rice bowl which was delicious and good value for money, and the Kuromon beef steak, which while tasty and cooked to a nice medium, felt overpriced for the small portion. Of note are their eggs, which are free-range and raised on site.

Tried their fried chicken and hamburger sooo yummy

After hiking the Kumano Kodo trail I could not have wanted anything else. This food was INCREDIBLE. Fried chicken - fried to perfect. Mustard greens over more fried chicken, so good. Venison and wild boar meatballs - delicious. Plus lo-fi hip hop vibes. So good.

Great food, great service, comfortable atmosphere.We had the venison and boar burger (not American style hamburger, more like meatballs)And the special fried local chicken.Both were delicious!

This is one of the best foods I have had in Japan. I had the boar curry and vegetable tempura. Everything was fresh and crisp. The quality and presentation of it all was fantastic.

Highly raccomended, don't miss it if you visit Hongu Taisha! A brand new restaurant & bar, all the personal is friendly and very kind, the menu includes local ingredients and drinks. Last but not least, all the dishes that we've ordered were exquisite

The building itself looks imposing from the outside. However, the inside is quiet a surprise. Very casual and youthful. Food is very contemporary. Our Airbnb host said the chef is from Tokyo. Quality and value ratio is fair. One of the few places that opens late in Kumano area.

Absolutely scrumptious. Open later than most other restaurants in the area, I'm confident I saw locals and travellers eating here as well. Try the deer donburi on the dinner menu.

You can eat rare Kumano beef steak with roots from the bulls brought from Kyoto during the mid-life period of the Kumano Domain.A cool Yawata T-shirt sells for 2500 yen (excluding tax). T-shirts sold elsewhere are cheaper, but the quality is better here. Isn't it cheap for souvenirs and good for yourself? I think. 😆

Friendly people, local craft beer and great food. The roast deer rice bowl was amazing! The hosts offered us a shuttle service to and from our ryokan in Yunomine Onsen, which made it super easy to go there for dinner.

The friendliness of the staff stands out. The skin of my salmon is crispy while is tender. The beef steak has a side that is slightly burned- believe me, it makes it even more delicious. It will great if the restuarant has a wide choice on the menu.

Came at 5pm on a Wednesday in August. Nice atmosphere, lots of character, excellent food and service, and local brewery beer from Voyager in nearby Tanabe.

LOVED this place. Great beer (local brews!), Great whiskey, great food (the house karage with their own special tartar sauce was amazing), great style, and great vibes. Exactly what we needed after finishing the Kumano Kodo. This is the only place in town open for dinner after 5:30 p.m.

Excellent set menu with extremely good chicken, tasty tofu... also had a cheesecake which was very creamy. The staff is nice and the place has a professional, yet warm feel to it. You can pay with a card.

Friendly staff and great food. We arrived at 8 pm and got many small delicious dishes and many different glasses of wine and plum wine and got a lift to hour hostel, since the bus had stopped. Again, really good food and fun and chatty staff.

Meal after visiting Kumano Taisha Shrine. Jibier Hamburger and his partner ate fried chicken. The hamburger is very delicious and surprising. It was a solid taste that tasted better as you chewed it rather than gravy. The fried chicken was moderately juicy, and I felt the deliciousness of the meat itself. I was a little disappointed that the salad was a little fresh. Although it was the third day of the new year, it might be related to the market break.

The menu is small, but the roasted venison 1200 yen for lunch was really delicious. A large meal free of charge. The interior is Japanese style and modern, very beautiful. Was super hungry after walking from Yunomine Onsen to Kumano Hongu Taisha. Finished this tasty and filling meal to my heart's content. Locally raised chicken fried and seasoned with sesame mayonnaise, served with rice, veggie salad and miso soup.

They were so accommodating. We were exhausted and spent like 4 hours hanging out and they didn’t mind and had all sorts of entertainment and are open late relative to everything else. Friendly staff, great food, good price!Try the dear sandwich!

It was so fashionable! Maybe the night is more popular.It is a place to eat basic rice because there is no cake. I don't eat lunch, so I want to be hungry next time!
